St. Francis de Sales hosted its first dance fundraiser on March 26, 2011 – a St. Patrick's Day Dance featuring Doo Wop music with all-time favorite hits from the 50's and 60's!! Held in the Phoenicia parish hall, the dance fundraiser has become a popular community event every year. From the beginning, the fundraising event was a collaborative effort of local churches and community volunteers. Members of St. Francis de Sales and the Memorial United Methodist Church in Shandaken formed the first dance committee.
Doo Wop music lovers and dance-goers are assured of an enjoyable evening with Diamonds DJ, live entertainment with the Doo Wop Sisters, refreshments and plenty of music and dancing – all for a good cause! Net proceeds of the fundraiser benefit the Phoenicia Food Pantry serving the Shandaken area.
Our annual dance is usually held in October. Volunteers are most welcome to help us keep this fundraiser going. It's a fun way to get involved in our community, especially if you love the 50's and 60's music genre!!
